Why would I need testing?

Effective testing can be pivotal and reveal valuable insight into your health. Blood labs are critical in evaluating certain pathologies, and sometimes lead insights into states that are trending toward disease.

However, there are many factors that blood doesn’t pick up. Doctor Guy looks for blood labs and then does some additional testing when necessary to look for other factors that can be contributing poorly to someone’s health.

What types of testing are available?

Dr. Guy offers the latest in advanced diagnostics and testing, including male and female hormone panels, thyroid tests, parasite testing, and neurotransmitter tests (such as serotonin and dopamine). He also offers the following tests:

Stool testing

An extensive stool test can show valuable information about your digestive function, intestinal inflammation, and intestinal microbiome.

Adrenal fatigue testing

Dr. Guy checks your adrenal glands through some advanced testing to see if your ranges are within normal. Adrenal glands have a lot to do with weight gain, fatigue, sex drive, brain fog, mental clarity, and overall energy.

Generally, the test is done through salivary testing of cortisol four times throughout the day to get a true representation. However, other factors play into it, such as insulin and thyroid and sometimes sex hormones. The combination of all of those along with a proper intake can reveal if there are issues with the adrenals.

Food sensitivity and allergy testing

Dr. Guy provides food sensitivity and allergy testing. Food sensitivity refers to a food allergy that happens gradually as opposed to an allergy that can create immediate symptoms, which can be mild to severe. The symptoms of a delayed food allergy can take up to 72 hours to appear.

Skin testing is the gold standard for immediate allergies, although many people experience food allergies that are a delayed onset. Once this is tested, people can uncover foods that may be hurting them in the long term.

Heavy metal testing

A chelation challenge urine test checks your body for toxic metals such as lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury, thallium, aluminum, etc. Dr. Guy places an intravenous (IV) (chelation) along with an oral tablet (chelator) to bind to metals. You then collect urine in a provided cup for a couple of hours after. Dr. Guy sends the urine to the lab to see if excessive amounts of metals were detected.

Nutritional micronutrient testing

Dr. Guy uses a Genova Diagnostic® micronutrient panel, which takes a closer look at which nutrients may be missing from your body. This is a great way to understand if there are nutritional deficiencies that are easily missed, and then by supplementing to re-establish any known deficiencies that may cause fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, and immune issues, among others.

What are the benefits of testing?

Dr. Guy usually starts with a comprehensive intake in office, and then only when necessary uses these more advanced tests to gain a clearer picture of your overall health and wellness. A test can reveal a key part of what’s causing your problematic symptoms.

For example, you might have a heavy metal test and determine that you have high levels of lead and mercury that contribute to your fatigue and cognitive impairment.

This is especially helpful information for Dr. Guy because it allows him to create the best possible treatment plan to target the root cause.

The causes of many complex chronic conditions are multifaceted, but the right testing can reveal specific parts of your health puzzle for Dr. Guy to piece together. If you’re interested in testing, call Dr. Guy to schedule an appointment today.
